The Japanese Cultural Association (JCA) aims to raise awareness of traditional and modern Japanese culture at �첥��Ƶ. We create opportunities for both Japanese and non-Japanese students to practice and learn the language. We provide a social network for Japanese, Japanese American students, and students interested in Japanese culture, society, and current issues. We are proud to be an intermediary contact for �첥��Ƶ students on Japan-related opportunities. College of �첥��Ƶ PC games Club’s purpose is to provide a campus community centered around a love and interest for popular computer-based (PC) video games. This organization creates a conducive environment for camaraderie��amongst students centered around PC gaming and its many facets, letting them enjoy this hobby while building their teamwork skills and interpersonal relationships through the shared passion.

Our organization will also host at least one viewing party for professional eSports games to help foster community offline.

COW Dance Company

COW Dance Company is a student organization that has a Fall and Spring Dance Concert. No dance experience necessary!!! We have a variety of students participate from all backgrounds of dance. The Fall Dance Concert is all student choreographed and held in the round. For the Spring Dance Concert, the Dance Company brings in a guest artist to choreograph along with all the student choreographers. Any style of dance is welcome, but we mostly focus on modern dance.

Chemistry Club

Chemistry Club at �첥��Ƶ is a nationally recognized student chapter of the American Chemical Society and is made up of about twenty enthusiastic students, both majors, and non-majors. The club gathers once every week (On Mondays from 7-8 p.m.) to plan and discuss upcoming events (snacks are often included). The club plan events such as outreach activities (making liquid nitrogen ice cream or doing demonstrations at a local elementary school), fundraising, upcoming speakers, game nights, and National Chemistry Week/Earth Day activities. Chemistry Club also plans socials for the club members.

Biology Club

Biology Club’s purpose it to combine the academic portion of analytical biology with the many different and interesting fields of biological science. Awareness of biology is to be presented and promoted throughout the campus to increase academic awareness of the importance of the subject topic. We also intend on expanding the knowledge of differing biological fields that encompass biology to deepen interest in the overall field.

Archaeology Student Colloquium (ASC)

The Archaeology Student Colloquium (ASC) is an academic-leaning organization that brings together those with an interest in archaeology, regardless of whether or not they are majoring or minoring in the subject at the college. The club is made up of really fun and friendly individuals with wide-ranging interests and a passion for sharing them.

The club hosts meetings every other Tuesday at 11:00AM (room number to be updated when established). The first for the 2021-22 school year will take place on August 31st. At these meetings, the club discusses and plans fun activities, shares information on summer work/internship/field school experiences and how to find them, and hosts helpful information sessions about finding and planning for grad school and direct employment after graduation. Outside of regularly scheduled meetings, ASC hosts many fun activities and get-togethers, such as field trips to local museums, occasional excavation opportunities, and more. ASC also hosts three* lectures each semester by guest lecturers on topics of their expertise, which expands the educational horizon beyond �첥��Ƶ’s scope.

Overall, ASC provides a great learning opportunity and chances to connect with awesome fellow students who share similar interests! *In the past, ASC has very successfully hosted three a semester. With COVID, this may be impacted. However, we are hoping and striving to return to this!

�첥��Ƶ Volunteer Network (WVN)

Mission

The WVN is a student organization that is committed to cultivating a culture of service, promoting volunteerism, and raising social awareness both at the College of �첥��Ƶ and in the greater �첥��Ƶ community. Through extensive service opportunities and continual partnership with other service organizations, the WVN encourages members of the College community to incorporate service into their education and lifestyle, and to create a network of individuals throughout the �첥��Ƶ community who are committed to volunteering. In doing this, we aim to reflect the graduate quality of exhibiting a commitment to community, civic engagement, and serving others.

What We Do

Service Saturdays – Once a month event where students travel to a local organization? and participate in a volunteer opportunity for a few hours. Some places we have gone include Habitat for Humanity, Frientique, local public schools, Nick Amster, and more.

Big Events – Two biggest events are Rake a Difference and the Agency Fair. Rake a Difference is a Fall event where students gather to help by traveling around the local community with a group and raking the yards of our neighbors. Our Agency Fair is an opportunity for local organizations to come onto campus and set up a table with information about their organization while students walk around, learn about the organizations, and sign-up to be contacted by the organizations they think they might want to connect with.

Service Trips – Fall break trip to El Salvador and Spring break trip to West Virginia.

Connect – Match student groups or individuals with local organizations that match their interests so they can volunteer with a group they are passionate about.

Leftists of �첥��Ƶ is a politically oriented club which focuses on the discussion, education, and propagation of leftist ideas in our campus community. We are strictly non-partisan and non-electoral, and instead seek out and offer ways for our fellow students to get involved on campus and the wider community both physically and socially. Most important of all, we seek to deepen the bonds between our fellow students as well as faculty and staff so that we may all work towards a more accepting and equitable campus community.

Greenhouse

Greenhouse is a student-run environmental organization that desires to bring a sustainable consciousness to the campus community. Established in 1994, Greenhouse is a campus leader, bringing innovative and bold initiatives that reduce resource consumption, produce substantial energy and cost savings, and change attitudes towards environmentalism. By activating the assets of community members and advocating for effective and feasible changes that can happen today, Greenhouse is a student organization that truly makes a difference.

Greenhouse functions as a whole but also does much of it’s work through 4 committees. These committees are: Food, Waste, Energy, and Outreach/Education.

Past successes have been: coordinating and directing for many years immensely popular EarthFest, raising the College of �첥��Ƶ’s rating in the Campus Sustainability Report Card, starting the reusable mug and box program, replacing paper towels with microfiber towels in the Scot Center, and becoming a strong motivator for environmental initiatives on campus.

Current Projects and Campaigns: advocating for a campus-wide sustainability audit, expanding and clarifying recycling guidelines on campus, composting the coffee grounds from Old Main Café, organizing pop up Free Store supply swaps, holding monthly food audits, speaking at trustee meetings to advocate for a more sustainable campus, and showing the campus the value of a sustainable life.

College Democrats

The College Democrats aim to foster political discussion and engagement both within the organization setting and on the campus at large, as well as voter registration. We also serve as a point of contact for Democratic candidates and officials who wish to interact with the College.
